Lacey Lampshades

Another thing I did to add interest in the baby's room, is these lacey lampshades.

The base for building the lampshade is a 10" adhesive shade from Joann Fabrics.  To that, I added sheets of pink vellum (in the scrapbooking section).  Over the pink vellum, I glued (small dabs of hot glue) lacey, wedding, scrapbooking paper.

The adhesive lampshade is wrapped in a piece of paper that can be used to cut your paper covering to size.  For the lacey overlay, I used the paper's finished edge as the bottom edge of the shade.  For the top edge of the shade, I cut edging from the scraps and adhered it with dabs of hot glue.
I bought two, really interesting, brass lamps for $1 each at a rummage sale.  I semi-polished them so that they retain an antiqued look and they really look great with these shades in the room.

Note:  I originally attempted to adhere the lacey overlay with spray adhesive.  When spray adhesive gets warm, however, it looses its adhesive qualities and the shades come apart!!  Hot glue was better and so much easier to use!

Here's one my mom did using the same idea.  It's soooo cute!!
